Happy 6th Social Media Day!

Can you believe that my first ever blog was created or hosted under Friendster Blogs? It was on that site where I shared all my happiness, frustrations and experiences as I went on with my high school life. Sad to say, I was not able to download everything published there. After Friendster, I moved to Multiply where I had an opportunity to share not only blog entries but also photos and videos. However, as days went by, I realized that I needed a better platform so I moved my blog to Blogspot and since that day, I (The Coffee Chic) never left.

Together with this move was the decision of finally creating social media accounts for my blog. Believe it or not, it actually took a long time before I gave in. I knew back then that creating a Facebook page or a Twitter account for The Coffee Chic means opening my blog completely to the public. There was a hesitation since I don’t want my life to be an open book but I guess, once you start blogging, you can never really keep your life a secret anymore (except if you own a private blog). The only thing you can do is filter your posts and know what part of your life to share.
Facebook, Instagram and Twitter make blogging so much fun! There are days when I couldn’t come up with a decent posts on my blog so I opt to update my blog’s social media accounts instead. These sites make it easier for me to micro-blog. It also enables me to connect easily with my friends and readers. You can check my accounts at:

I’m sharing this story as a way of celebrating the 6th Social Media Day.
Mashable launched Social Media Day in 2010 as a way to recognize and celebrate social media’s impact on global communication. While every day is essentially Social Media Day, June 30th, 2015 marks the sixth-annual official global celebration.
