Being at the beach brings peace and comfort to my busy life. My previous days have been filled with deadlines at work and lots of meetings. As such, I always find myself running out of time. It seems like the hectic schedule never ends. Fortunately, there are great homegrown restaurants in Davao that specialize in providing some of my favorite dishes. All I have to do is drive to one of those restos, bistros or cafes and give in to my food cravings.
However, I have to be honest that some days can be challenging. A simple food trip or even a quick massage couldn’t take the stress away. For these times, the best thing to do is to really take a break and go to a relaxing place. This is the reason why I always choose to go out of town just to run away for a little while and create an opportunity for me to breathe. I’m happy that Davao is surrounded with places that can be reached in just one to three hours such as Buda, Island Garden City of Samal, Eden Nature Park and more!
The surprising thing is… there’s even a resort in Samal Island that I can reach in less than ten minutes. Yes, you read it right. IN LESS THAN TEN MINUTES. I won’t be publishing the rates to these rooms as they usually change without prior notice. Just to give you an idea, guests can book for an overnight stay for as low as Php 5,000 nett per room. The most expensive room is the Club Samal Suite, which has an average price of Php 20,000 nett per room. Again, these rates may change depending on the dates. The place also has a bar-restaurant, which is located on the first floor. Whatever you choose between the two, you can get a guarantee that your dining experience will be memorable. Imagine satisfying your palate with delicious meals while laughing and catching up with your loved ones. At the same time, you can also have the sound of the waves as your background music!
My last visit to Club Samal Resort was with some friends from the media and Davao Digital Influencers. All these taste really good. My number one favorite is the Porchetta. Every bite is absolutely worth all the calories. Take note that Club Samal Resort have an ala carte menu. However, buffet lunch is served during the weekends.
There are two ways on how to reach this lovely boutique resort. The first one is to ride the private boat from Garden by the Sea Wharf in Davao city. It only takes less than ten minutes to reach the property through this mode of transportation.
The second one is to ride the barge from Sasa Wharf. Upon reaching the Garden City of Samal, turn right from the port and you will arrive at the property around 500 meters drive (if you decide to bring your vehicle) or ride (if you will ride the tricycles available).
Personally, I prefer the first mode of getting to Club Samal Resorts. It’s more convenient since you no longer need to fall in line at the Sasa Wharf, which can take for almost thirty minutes to one hour. Aside from this, Garden by the Sea also has a large, secure parking space so you can leave your car there. For me, the selling point of this resort is its strategic location — secluded yet easy to reach from Davao city.
