Last week, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) held a Launching Event at Marco Polo Hotel in Davao city where they invited different members of the press and bloggers community to witness what Singapore has to offer for the Filipinos. I was one of the invitees who attended the media conference. The main highlight of the occasion was the launching of YourSingapore.com. It is the official website of Singapore where various activities, tourist spots and travel tips are posted. It’s the perfect place to visit online before booking a trip at the Lion City.

Ms. Sherina Chan, area director of STB in the Philippines and Brunei, presented many reasons why we should visit Singapore, not only during the summer but for the coming years. What is amazing about this city-country is that there are new improvements every year. There are always new things and experiences to look forward to.

The last time I visited Singapore was on the year 2008. I went out of the country with my family to celebrate the mother’s day in the Lion city. During our visit there, only few tourist spots were open. The famous Universal Studios was not yet in its full blast operations. The Singapore Flyer was still on its first two months of operations but we weren’t able to experience the world’s largest giant observation wheel because we were still unsure of its safety. We stayed in Holiday Park Inn located at the Orchard Road. What was amazing about our trip was that my dad did not get in touch with any tourism company for tour packages and promos. We were then a stranger to the place but we managed our stay there, without encountering any problem at all. We enjoyed the unique Singaporean cuisine. We also fell in love with the affordable electronics in the malls.

What really amazed me about Singapore is its clean areas. Everywhere I go, I see no mess at all. The city is so clean and organized. Aside from this, I also find the people from the Lion city accommodating and helpful. They are so kind to everyone they meet, especially the tourists. I must say, I really had a wonderful summer 2008 at the city. Since then, I never had a chance to travel back to Singapore because of my hectic schedule.

But after hearing all the talks of Ms. Chan, I wanted to book my flight immediately to Sin. I’m excited to see the newest attractions at the city. I can’t wait to witness the exciting events and activities for 2013. Aside from the fact that going to Singapore is so convenient, the flight rates are also available. In fact, there are promo fares that can be availed of from different airlines. Unfortunately, I discovered that I can’t visit the city this summer because my dad will be home from Papua New Guinea and it would be bad for me to leave home when he’s around. So, I’m saving next year for my all-alone trip to Singapore!

I've actually been to SIN twice now. My last one was during my birthday month, Nov 2011. I told myself that it might take a while before I come back again (since I have this thing about not repeating countries when I travel). But after reading the list of new attractions, I might just find myself back there soon.
