How to Make Money Selling E-Books from Home

You may keep a regularly updated blog
already, but have you thought about how to turn your passion for writing into
cash? Or perhaps you love to read and discover new authors. If you enjoy the
written word and are looking for a way to turn this into a lucrative career,
you might want to think about writing or selling eBooks from home. This is a
business that can be run in conjunction with a regular blog, to draw in new
readers and share information through digital publishing. To learn more about
how to sell
books online
, there are a few
factors to keep in mind.
Electronic
Publishing Basics
Becoming an author in the past required
getting an agent, making industry contacts, and having a degree from the right
university. The internet has made it possible to share information on a
widespread level without following these steps. Just as readers can browse
through an endless selection of online articles and blog posts to find
entertaining and insightful content, writers can now share their fiction and
non-fiction through publishing their own electronic materials.

Writing
and Sourcing E-Books
If there’s a subject you’re an expert in
or if you love to write fiction, you may have the basis for an E-book. It’s
best to choose a topic that you think would appeal to the widest audience
possible. As you write your book, choose catchy titles and headings for the
chapters, to draw reader interest and help optimize the eventual marketing of
your book online. It can help to publish chapters or essays on a blog as a
sample of your writing, or to seek out samples of other writers who you admire.
You could then contact them and ask if they would be interested in
distribution.
Creating
an Ecommerce Website
Once you have written your masterpiece
or discovered some new writers you want to work with, the next step is to set
up a viable website to display and market the books. The best
ecommerce website
will be professional
in appearance yet also easy to navigate. You’ll want to provide a clear image
of the book jacket along with a synopsis, any reviews that the book has
received, and biographical information about the author. Think about what you
look for when you go into a bookstore in person. You most likely pick up the
book and study the information on the back cover, or perhaps flip through the
book to look at chapter titles and excerpts. All of this information should be
provided to appeal to your customers.
Other facets of a well-designed
ecommerce site include an easy to use checkout system and secure hosting. If
you make it too difficult to check out, with multiple steps or site
registration, your customers may just leave and look elsewhere on a corporate
site. A crisp design, useful features, and simple checkout system are what will
set your online bookshop apart and help you land those sales.
There’s nothing more exciting than
running your own business. Selling your own writing is even more exciting.
Whether you decide to become an E-book author or simply wish to run an online
bookshop, you may find endless potential rewards in digital publishing.

not a bad idea but i have to enroll on a creative writing course before i could write sensational e-books. 😉

  2. Yey! writing is a passion that thrives in the heart of the gifted few. Though it appear that i am not gifted i can sense the passion, however, time constraint me to cultivate this hunger of mine. (lol) but, seriously, if i find the luxury of time i would consider this craft, maybe in the future 🙂

This is a very good info! I would love to get my hands on book-writing but I guess I am not as talented as I thought I was 🙂 Anyway, I can pitch my daughter's work though. She loves writing fiction for tweeners involving her love for anime characters. I have been prodding her to monetize her fiction writing and even joked that she can start earning royalties for her ebooks and send herself to college 🙂

  5. That would be a great avenue for those who are gifted writers.
