Natural Ways To Enhance Your Garden

There are lots of ways to make your garden look more attractive and turn it into somewhere you want to spend more time. Often you can do so, just by planting the right types of shrubs, flowers and trees.

Enhancing your garden in this way brings several benefits. The more varied the flora and fauna is in residential gardens that better it is for local wildlife. Studies show that spending time in a natural, green space is very good for your mental health. Generally speaking, plants and trees are far cheaper to buy than manmade materials are.

Use hedging plants to create a little more privacy

Using privacy bushes you can easily turn your garden into a more private space. This makes it far easier for you to get away from everything and everyone and really relax. If you want to sunbathe in your underwear, you can do so without worrying about offending anyone.

You can quickly achieve this by planting a row of fast-growing trees or bushes along your garden boundary. Or, simply by putting up trellis work and allowing evergreen climbers to grow over it.

There are many options, which one is right for you depends on your budget, how much time you have to maintain the plants and how much space you have. This YT video goes through several options. So, if you are not sure what you need, I suggest you take a few minutes to watch it.

Mulch your flowerbeds

If you are struggling to keep on top of your weeding, consider mulching your flower beds. Choosing to use natural, bio-degradable materials has the added benefit of feeding your plants and helping the soil to retain moisture.

Create a bird-friendly garden

Birds are beautiful. It is wonderful to be able to look out of your window and see birds and squirrels feeding in your garden. So, if you have not already done so, consider putting up a bird table.

Attract butterflies to your garden

Planting plenty of butterfly-friendly plants is another good way to enhance your garden. They really are beautiful creatures. Plus, you will be able to enjoy the colorful flowers you will have planted to attract them.

Let some of it go wild

If you have the space to do so, leave a section of your garden to go wild. Or, plant some wildflowers and grasses and only cut that area back every so often. You will be pleasantly surprised by how nice an area like this, at the bottom of a garden, can look.

Install a pond

This last suggestion is a bit more expensive and requires quite a bit of work to set up. But, if you have enough space, installing a pond is a wonderful way to enhance your garden and help wildlife, at the same time. Before you put one in, consider safety and bear in mind the fact that they do need a bit of maintenance.

So, instead of spending money on decking or new garden furniture why not find natural ways to enhance your garden, first.
