Tips for Packing Your Wine Collection

There are undeniably
some things in life which make you beam with unprecedented joy – watching your
favorite team win over the obvious crowd favorite … getting a back rub from
your significant other, or looking at your prized wine collection.
Since this wine
collection is something you hold dear, it only makes sense to care for it like
you would your favorite pet. If you happen to be faced with the predicament of
moving to a new place, for instance, you most definitely will take extra care
when transporting those precious bottles of liquor. Although the task of
packing those breakable bottles seems quite daunting, don’t let it break your
heart. Here are a few things to remember when packing and moving your wine
collection.

1.      Know
what you have.
First, it helps to take
stock of what you have. Go through your wine collection, and determine which
ones you might consider getting rid of. If you’re not too attached to them,
maybe you can give some away as gifts.  Put a couple of those wine bottles inside
bottle gift bags with lovely designs, and you’re good to go. Remember, the less
number of bottles to transport, the better.
2.      Tighten
those caps.
Be sure to tighten the
caps of bottles which have already been opened. The last thing you’d want is to
have that precious liquid spill over and drench everything in sight.
3.      Protect
your precious collection.
Packing your bottles in
wrapping paper will give them the much-needed cushion from potential nasty
blows. Lay out some sheets of plain packing paper on your working surface. Place
a bottle on its side. Position it so that it’s perpendicular to the corner of
the top sheet of paper. Pick two or three sheets of packing paper and wrap it
around the bottle, rolling it as you push forward. Secure the wrapping paper
with tape, making sure there are no loose ends.
4.      Use
specialized packaging.
Get those specialized packaging
for bottles
 from your
friendly packaging solutions company. For your convenience, you can opt to
purchase them online. When moving wine bottles, it would be best to choose
those heavy duty cardboard boxes with dividers. This will keep the bottles from
knocking against each other during transport.
5.      Ensure
that the boxes are properly secured.
Once those lovely
bottles are safely inside the box, be sure to secure it like there’s no
tomorrow. Tape the bottom well. If the paranoid in you simply can’t sit still,
and you’re still worrying about your bottles breaking, you can further
reinforce the inside lining of the box with extra sheets of cardboard.
6.      Know
how to spell FRAGILE.
Lastly, don’t forget to
spell things out to clearly get the message across. Writing the word FRAGILE on
those boxes will spell a whole world of difference.
