Ways to Save Money on School Clothes
When you’re in need of school uniforms
for your little ones, you’ll want to take advantage of a few money-saving
shopping tips. Children’s clothing can really add up over the years, as they
quickly outgrow old uniforms and beg for the trendy brand names that their
friends are wearing. Back to school fashion doesn’t have to break the bank, if
you get organised ahead of time. These same principles can also be used to save
money on your own clothing!

Before you get started, it helps to take
an inventory of your child’s existing wardrobe. Find out what he’s outgrown,
what items are looking shabby or worn, or what is completely out of fashion.
These items can be handed down to younger siblings or donated to charity if

If you have friends or family with
children of a similar age, you could hold a clothing swap. Just because your
child is tired of an outfit, doesn’t mean that it won’t be completely new to

can wear gently used clothing from friends and family. You can make old clothes
look new with a professional cleaning and a few repairs, in many cases. Those
handy with a sewing machine can also add sequins, lace, or other decorative
touches to old clothing to give them a whole new makeover.

remodelled for a fresh look, you can then see what items your child is missing
and go shopping. Although children love trendy looks, you want to focus more on
basics that will be reusable for several seasons. You can use the majority of
your budget to purchase basic uniforms or classic clothing, and then splurge on
a few trendy pieces.

Vintage and reused fashion is hot at the
moment, and it also has the added benefit of yielding some fantastic discounts.
You can hunt through yard sales, consignment boutiques, and charity shops for school
clothes. Turn it into a scavenger hunt with your children or hand them a
certain amount of cash to spend as they wish, allowing them to pick out their
own unique items. Be sure to clean any finds thoroughly before marking them for

A fellow volunteer that I work with in school gave me a uniform for my daughter because her grand daughter can't use it anymore. Getting hand me downs is also a way to save but some are embarrass to get things like that. I don't mind as long as it is heartily given and it is still usable.
I do the clothes-swapping with other moms whose kids are already in the higher grade as my kid. It saves me money. The only problem parents encounter here is when the school decides to change uniform. This has happened to my daughter's school in a span of 5 years. So, I feel bad buying full set of uniforms for her because eventually, they will be changed again.

…my kiddos are both boys but unfortunately my younger son can not benefit from the old clothes of his elder bro because they have a huge difference in size haha, it is always a challenge for me and the hubby buying items for them because the teenage boy is over sized while the grade school kiddo is small for his age haha, thank you for this info…happy day 🙂
We have clothes-swapping here but never have a chance to do so.Mostly the clothes of my daughter I bought is in clearance or if I have a coupon and save some bucks from then.

This is a helpful tips for Moms including me, but I really don't know how to be creative with used cloth, I want to try but I think I need to know the basin of sewing?
When my daughter transferred to another school, I sold her uniforms to a school mate ( they were still in good condition), so I saved a few pesos there!

i remember when i was little. my mom would advice the mananahi to fold the skirt of my uniform longer, so if i outgrow it, my mom would just alter the bottom. hehe.. thanks for the tips though!
