Loser No More

I was touched by the contestants of Pinoy Biggest Loser. I didn’t know that behind their big physiques are great pains and hurts they have been carrying all through out their lives. They may all look happy but the truth is, they are hurting. Obesity has affected them so much. Because of being really fat, most of them experienced embarrassments, failures, sufferings and fears. I felt like someone crushed by heart when I saw them cry over national television.
Most contestants start their confessions by saying, “Dahil mataba ako..
♦ One of them is unhappy because she feels weak and worthless for not being able to give her husband a baby for quite long years. She was advised by her doctor to lose weight for a greater chance of bearing a child. It makes her feel like she does not deserve to be called a wife.
♦ Another one is in pain because he is embarrassed for not being able to bring a date (girl) every time he and his friends go for a night out. He wishes every single night that one day, he may bring someone special whenever he and his friends meet. When that day comes, he will be happiest.
♦ The other one is hurting because of losing his job due to obesity. According to him, in this world, physical appearance matters. Thus, for someone like him who looks fat and lazy, it is hard to look for a job. Men and women with better physiques are more appealing than those who are obese.
♦ There is also this girl who feels she is unloved because of her weight. As what she has said on the show, “Is love only for people with the perfect body?” Not being in a relationship hurts her but she has accepted the fact that as long as she is obese, she will never be loved by a lover.
♦ Another girl has also decided to shave off her hair so people won’t be able to notice first her body but instead her hair. She always laughs about her weight but deep down inside, she is trying to deal with the pains and wishful thinkings.
At the end of the day, I appreciated ABS-CBN’s show. Biggest Loser (Pinoy Edition) gives hopes and brings chances to the contestants. I look forward to seeing them change their lives. I wish them happiness. I know, one day, all their dreams will come true. All their pains and hurts will vanish. And most especially, their beliefs in their selves will be renewed. ☺
