Stop making excuses and start sticking to your promise!
One of my resolutions for this year is to start reading more non-law school books. For some doing this may come in easy, in my case, it is a luxury.
I have to trade many things in order to achieve this specific goal. First of all, I feel like 24 hours a day are never enough to accomplish all my tasks, especially when there are many demands at school. To pleasure read means to give up some of my precious study hours. Not to mention the mountain of books I’d have to carry around with me! To make it easier, I downloaded some applications in my iPhone which will make pleasure reading easy and convenient.
Below is a list of the apps I find useful in accomplishing my goal for the New Year.
iBooks also allows me to keep track of all the books I’ve finished for a certain period. What I did was to create a folder named “DONE” where all my finished eBooks are placed. This way, I can keep count of how many books I have read for the year.
All my subscriptions are made and purchased via Zinio.com. Aside from the magazines, there are also books available at Zinio, both paid and priced. The nice thing about this well-known site is that they have an app on the AppStore which can be downloaded for free. Therefore, I can read everything stored in my Zinio app anywhere I go and anytime of the day.
If you take hold of my iPhone, you can see a “Good Reads” folder and the top three apps you’ll see are those enumerated above. I intend to use the said applications to help me achieve one of my promises for 2014 and that is to read more books. The apps will make it easy for me to read the beautiful outputs of great authors wherever I go. Don’t get me wrong, reading physical books are way better than e-reading. It still feels good to actually hold the book and enjoy its smell as you flip the pages. But as I said, pleasure reading is a luxury I cannot afford due to my law studies. So for now, I will stick with using iBooks, Zinio and Kindle.

that's a great way to convince yourself to read more books, i don't have that resolution but i want to do it yet never started, last year though i read 1 book and at least i'm seeing a little bit of progress in myself.
It's really good to read books but only read the ones you love when you are still starting 🙂 That way, you can keep yourself motivated and inspired 🙂
I've been using ibooks and nook so far i'm so happy with these two apps.
Thanks for the reminder. I really have to go back to reading again, I used to be able to read a book every so often but now it is hard to incorporate it in my schedule, whew.
I miss reading books. I used to read a lot before but when my eldest started school and I got hooked online, I have put away and have given my books… I hope I can go back to reading and influence my boys to do the same.
You should read again soon ate! Kahit na busy, pamwala din ng stress ang reading 🙂
i don't make resolutions, so i have an excuse of not getting to anything 🙂 haha, i usually make changes as soon as I see the need for it and don't wait for the year, like you, I love e-books too, not only for the price, but imagine carrying so many books in one very light gadget?
I didn't set any NY's resolution so I can't tell haha. Admittedly, I suck when it comes to reading what I have. I have tons of brand new books unopened. Don't even ask me about ebooks and mag subscriptions. There's just not enough time in the day to read that my magazines are left un touched, (even those on my iPad) since the September 2013 issues.
I'm a free thinking person who don't believed in New Year's Resolution. Thanks for the info, I'm a member of Kindle Publishing Author and downloading it on my tablet to read. Bookrix too is a site for free reading, likewise Wattpad.
Reading more books this year is one of my New Year's resolution too.

I don't make NYRs because I rarely accomplish them. Right now I'm loving the direction life is taking me. Although, sometimes I feel guilty I don't read as much, well except for the assigned readings at school.
I did make a sort of New Year's Resolution but it can't be done regularly. Hehe.. so far it's good. I also planned on reading more books, actually audio books in German to enhance my knowledge of the language.
I prefer the physical books but I have nothing against the digital versions. They are convenient, especially when traveling.
Hmmm, I might as well try iBook, this looks exciting! I have Kindle reader and Zinio and I use Moonreader for my other ebook formats. <3.
P.S. i love your blog title. I'm a coffee addict myself=)
We all wish that we have time enough to slow down and catch up our reading. but with all the fast lane we do almost everyday sometimes reading books is like mission impossible these days.
