WeChat 5.2: Taking Up the Ante for Social Scenes with 6 New Features
The first two months of the new year are filled with great music festivals, food fairs, new clubs, sporting events, pop-up markets and bazaars. These social scenes are being enjoyed by everyone all over the Philippines. With March just starting, we can expect more exciting and great events to come. Thanks to WeChat’s 5.2 upgrade for Android and iOS, we can now have a better version of this app to match our energy for all the upcoming affairs. The upgrade has new features that will help us make things happen easily and conveniently, thus helping us to be always on the go.
Allow me to share some of the new things I love for the latest update:
1. Menu Bar
The WeChat 5.2 gives smartphone users a clearer interface allowing us to have a better experience with getting connected to different people. The amazing features are now compartmentalized into three sections namely Chats, Discover, and Contacts. “Chats” allows us to continue current conversations while “Contacts” allow us to start new exchanges with our friends. Navigation is now easier. “Discover” allows us to enjoy the other fun features available. With just one tap, we can already see our Moments feeds and options including Scan QR Code, Shake, People Nearby, Drift Bottle, Games, and Sticker Shop.
2. Friend Radar
As a person who loves attending events with co-bloggers and people from different industries, the Friend Radar feature is perfect for me. The Friend Radar automatically identifies other WeChatusers within the vicinity thus giving all users an option to connect with fresh set of buddies by simply tapping the images of the other users and adding them to the contact list. This crosses out the fuss of having to exchange little details and gives us more liberty to continue chatting with our newfound clique.
3. Real-time Location-sharing
This is another smart feature of WeChat. It is made for those who love hopping from one place to another, searching for the best items to buy or scoring for great deals in bazaars with their clique. With the Real time Location-sharing, we can easily invite our friends to share their current location and help them navigate so they can reach our place hassle-free. Thanks to the WeChat map and integrated walkie-talkie. The WeChat’s Real-time Location-sharing feature can be accessed by following these steps: Simply open a chat > + > Locations > Real-time Location>to view one another’s maps.
4. Group Chat Photo Album
We all want to upload our photos in social networking sites, right? But sometimes, we encounter problems such as having the need to scroll through endless chats. Now there is a solution. With the integration of a Group Chat Photo Album, photos shared in the group chat—whether for simple dinner dates to out of town trips—are arranged by date and then stored in one location accessed through one tap of the Photo Album icon.
5. Universal Search
Don’t worry if you forgot that important date or name in a chat conversation. With WeChat’s Universal Search feature, you can quickly refer back to any message or contact by typing into the search field within the Chats tab.
6. Contact List Customization
It’s now easy to manage our networks with the latest with WeChat’s Contact List Customization feature. By using this feat, we can easily add photos, address, business cards and other details to our friend’s profile. This way, we can now find everything we need to know about our networks by simply clicking their profiles.
Apart from these updates, WeChat 5.2 for Android also comes with enhanced versions of its staple features. Among these include:
• More animated stickers from Sticker Shop which captures users’ experiential responses
• Group Chat Mention Notifications which will notify userswhen their namesare mentioned in a Group Chat
• Boosted quality for Video and Audio Chats
• LinkedIn Account in WeChat which lets you users grow their professional circle.

My cell phone is boring 🙁 It is just the flip flap old cell phone but as long as my husband can't reach me and my kids, then we are all fine 🙂 I do wish that I have a nicer cell phone but oh well 🙂
