The Story of My Never-To-Be-Forgotten Summer

I guess today is the right time to say that summer 2014 was the best summer season of my life. Yes, there is no exaggeration on this statement. Now that class will officially start on Tuesday, I can’t help but feel mixed emotions about “school starting” and “summer ending.” First of all, I am completely happy knowing that I was able to enroll again in Ateneo Law School for academic year 2014-2015. This means that I have taken another step towards my goal of becoming a lawyer. At the same time, this also means that my sweet summer has come to an end. Gone are the days when I can easily say “yes” to out of town trips, drinking nights, partying days and beach dates without thinking about cases to read, provisions to memorize and law to understand. So here I am, left with no choice but to say “Goodbye Summer!” and shout “Hello New Semester.”
Before I finally close this happy chapter of my 2014, I would like to share some of the special moments and beautiful reasons why this year’s summer is the best summer season ever. Check this story:

There you have it! Everything went well for Summer 2014. I had an opportunity to travel with my family at Baguio city where we also celebrated my mom’s birthday. I also traveled to Manila where I got a chance to see my high school friends who have decided to work there. We may have one night only to catch up and chit chat but it was all we needed to strengthen our friendship despite the distance.
Another travel event I will never forget was my trip to Iloilo then to Boracay with my law school friends. We booked our flight last January even if we were not yet sure of the date. To be honest, it was an impulsive booking. In fact, we did not plan for anything at all. We had to make the hotel and van reservations on the last minute. Well, I guess that’s what made the trip extra-special. We didn’t work hard to make it happen. It just did. And it was super fun, memorable and liberating.

I also turned one year older last May. And my birthday celebration was a blast! Thank you to everyone who came to my party and to all who sent their greetings. I blogged about it at Overwhelming Happiness and Gratitude for My Birthday. Lindsay, my dog, also turned one last week. It’s one of the reasons why I am ultimately in love with summer 2014.

My summer was also full of movie nights with my blogger friends, drinking and chitchatting sessions with my law school loves and coffee dates with my highschool friends. There were also days when all I did was to watch 2014 films I missed because of school and newly discovered tv series like My Love From Another Star and Awkward. These are some of the movies I’ve enjoyed over the summer season: Flipped, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, Maleficent, The Amazing Spider Man 2, The Fault in Our Stars, That Awkward Moment, The Bucket List, The Great Gatsby and many more!

Of course, who would forget about that one afternoon with the children of the Providence Home of St. Joseph and Padre Pio’s for the Back to School Project? This charity event is headed by Naprey Almario of Behind the Rolling Chair. If you frequently visit my blog, you are probably aware by now of how Naprey puts his passion and interest in helping kids. You can read about the latest project here: 4th Back to School Gift Giving Project by a Strong Wheeled Advocate

The last fun thing I did for summer 2014 was my Samal staycation (again) with my law school friends. We went to the Island Garden of Samal and stayed at Club Asiano Resort as our last hurrah before the class starts. For two days and one night, we did all the possible you-only-live-once fun activities. Those two days were the best days of my summer!

Yes, you’ve read everything I wanted to share. Sorry but summer love is not part of the story this year. Let’s look forward to next summer season! For now, I have to change my body clock and get ready for another roller coaster ride in law school. After right thing post, I actually feel excitement for Tuesday and the following days.

All in all, it was a never-to-be-forgotten summer — one of those summers which come seldom into any life, but leave a rich heritage of beautiful memories in their going — one of those summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather, delightful friends and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world. – L.M. Lucky you! I wish I could travel as much as you did. Oh well, just enjoy it while you can and while you are still young. My children also love to travel, my eldest child, my daughter has been to Cebu and Bohol. This year, she is planning a trip up north, either to Ilocos Norte or to Batanes.
