Hard Decisions in Life

The funny thing about life is that it only offers us two choices – either to hold on or to let go. There are many instances when we are left with no other choice but to let go of something that we have been holding on for so long. The reason for this action is not because we have grown tired of keeping that special thing in our lives but simply due to the fact that we have reached the limit (time). No matter how much we fight for that specific thing, we are always on the losing end. We have to remember that life is not full of genies. We cannot simply make our wishes and wait for what we’ve asked for to come true. In movies, it happens. However, in reality, it does not.

On the other hand, there are also times when we gather all the strength and courage we have in ourselves. Then, suddenly, we have that urges to continue fighting and moving forward just to keep the valuable thing. Deep down in our hearts, we find more reasons to fight for the battle in the belief that one day, everything will start to make sense. We have faith that whatever we’ve worked for will give us rewards in the end.

Letting go and holding on.

The question of what to do is hard to answer. No one knows what lies ahead which makes the situation more complicated. As human beings, we have the tendency to find assurance in everything we do. As much as possible, we would like to keep ourselves from failing. This is the primary reason why the decision of continuing and stopping becomes painful. No single person has the capacity to foresee what might happen tomorrow or next week. If it’s possible, then the world could become a better and happier place to live in.

If you are in a situation where you need to make a choice, always keep in mind that all you need to do is to follow your heart. Learn how to listen to your instincts because in most cases, you are right. Do not let the confusion carry you away from making the perfect decision. Once you let this happen, one possible chance is that you might end up blaming certain things or people for your misfortunes.

Take note: It is good when you start to make your own decisions because by doing such, you will begin to learn new lessons about life. Do not be afraid to take risks, to bend on your knees and to fall down sometimes. In this complicated world that we live in, I believe one thing is for sure — there will always be persons out there who will never leave us no matter what happens. As the famous line of the song says, “That’s what you get when you let your heart wins.

Never forget that life is all about balancing the letting go and holding on processes.

Letting go is a painful process and I think acceptance makes it easier. Acceptance of what truly is and not how we want to see things. When we accept what is, we can take those tiny steps in moving on and eventually getting to where we're meant to be.

Good post. I enjoyed reading it 🙂

Yes, acceptance. The moment we start to accept whatever is presented to us, life becomes easier and less complicated. Sometimes, we just need to move on until we reach where we should be.

Well said Gene. I agree, letting go is one of the most difficult things to do especially when that thing or that person is someone very close to your heart. But u are right, in the end, we have to make decisions and those decisions will dictate what will be the outcome in the future.

Thanks for this good read! Missing u!

i have a similar post on this on my other blog, for me if you already decided to let go then hold on to that decision, there's no use in letting go and then changing your mind because that's not how life goes.
