My Heart Is Happy With The Ending Of “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay”

If there is one thing that I’ve noticed with most of the KDramas that I watched, it is the fact that they always leave me with so many questions in my mind. There are even times when I get frustrated because I want something more from it.

Don’t get me wrong. I love all the KDramas I want, but a part of me always wishes to have my own happy ending.

Don’t even get me started with Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Until now, I’m hopelessly waiting for Season 2. I wanted a different ending for Hae Soo and Wang So. Why does their story have to end that way? I was broken-hearted by that ending. The same thing goes for Empress Ki or Hotel del Luna. And yes, Vagabond too! The ending was such a cliffhanger that it’s frustrating not to know what will happen to Go Have-Ri and Cha Dal-Gun anytime soon. There has been an announcement that Vagabond Season 2 is going to happen, but they have not given details yet as to the release date. Oh, I also remember how happy yet completely unsatisfying the ending is for My Love From The Star. Cheon Song-yi and Lee Hee-kyung should have a better ending for their love story!

So why am I talking about Kdrama endings now? BECAUSE I FINALLY FOUND A KDRAMA WITH THE ENDING THAT I CAN BE HAPPY ABOUT.

I can go with the rest of my days happy with how “It’s Not Okay to Be Okay” ended.

I’m happy to see how all the characters from this series got their own happy ending. The writers of this Netflix Originals (Kdrama) did an amazing job in sharing such a beautiful story through Moon Sang-tae, Moon Gang-tae and Ko Moon-young. This trio made me cry, laugh, and smile all throughout the 16 episodes. It feels good to know that I didn’t waste my time watching this heart-warming Kdrama. It’s one of those shows that I don’t mind watching again. Even the Official Soundtrack of this Kdrama — it’s well-thought-of. I love how the perfect song plays for the right scene.

Before I continue writing this post, I want to give you a caveat. You may not get what I’m saying here if you haven’t watched the series. I’m writing this article down because I want to remember how I exactly felt with the ending. So, don’t bother reading this up to the end, but feel free to keep going if you have time. (LOL)

The ending of “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” was realistic.

I was happy to see that Moon Gang-tae got the ending that he deserved.

He spent most of his life taking care of his older brother, Moon Sang-tae, who has autism. He’s such a selfless man to the point that he even pushed his own dreams for his brother. It doesn’t matter if he wasn’t able to do all he things he wanted, as long as his brother gets what the latter needed. He never had a normal life. As such, it was a relief to find out that, at the end, he was able to break free from the chains that have been holding him back. He got a chance to run away and travel with Ko Moon-young, without having the guilt of leaving his brother behind. It was even Moon Sang-tae’s decision to let him go.

I still have a lot of things to say about this movie, but I have to take a break, as listening to the OST is so much better than completing this post. Well, at least for now. I want to give this gift to myself — playing the OST on repeat.

I’m literally crying right now and I want to enjoy this moment! “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay” is the kind of gift that we all needed. I’ll probably add another post in the coming days about this Kdrama.

For now, you can listen with me here:

Let’s start with my number one song from this Kdrama.
