BROOKIE at Anniepie (Malvar Street)
Can’t decide between a brownie or a cookie? Anniepie offers the Brookie for those who want the best of both worlds. And if that’s not enough, take home a box of assorted cinnamon rolls that are just the right amount of sweetness. Sans Rival at Lachi’s (Ruby Street Marfori Heights Subdivision)
Managed by twin brothers Mike and Melvin Aviles both in and out of the kitchen, Lachi’s is a famous spot that all locals recommend whenever someone asks “What should I try in Davao?” The answer is Lachi’s Sans Rival of course! It comes in three flavors: Classic, Coffee, and to add a Davaoeño touch to this classic Filipino dessert, Durian. Some say that eating durian is an acquired taste, but the Durian Sans Rival will keep you coming back for more.
Cotton Candy Ice Cream at My Cup of Cake (Mabini Street)
Everyone is used to bubble gum flavored ice cream, but cotton candy ice cream? Now this is something new. Your favorite spun sugar now melts in your mouth the cold and creamy way, thanks to My Cup of Cake. This café even got featured in an infographic that shows the best cupcake places in the Philippines. Of course, the cotton candy ice cream got a special mention. It’s a dream come true for the kid in you.
Blue Cheese, Fig, and Walnut Cheesecake at Osvaldo’s Cakes (Pelayo Street)
Talk about a tempting cheesecake. For anyone curious about the backend of a bakery, Osvaldo’s Cakes is the perfect place to visit. The place is designed to be an open kitchen, so that owners, Joel and Jose Marie Rodriguez, can easily and happily interact with the customers. You can even request for a cake that they can have ready the following day. Orders for specialty cakes perfect for any occasion are also accepted, but these must be ordered at least 2 days in advance.

Davao is becoming such a gastronomical "in" place in the Philippines. I am dreaming to visit the metropolitan city of Davao to experience the great hospitality and fabulous gastronomical feast too! If I can only convince my hubby to move there instead of living in Manila. I have also learned that Davao is one of the safest city in the world!!! Now, isn't that something Davao people should be very proud of? I wish I live there. 🙂
