Davao Food Crawl Goes To 1953 Kusina Leticia

The first thing that comes into my mind when I think of 1953 Kusina Leticia is home. Everything inside the restaurant — from its beautiful interior to the modern Filipino dishes they serve — reminds every guest about the value of spending quality time with families. For me, the place is ideal for gatherings especially on Sundays when everyone has exciting news to share with their loved ones.

1953 Kusina Leticia is a wonderful place for intimate conversations with friends and family members over great food that will surely put anyone in a good mood. One of the things I love about this restaurant is that the people behind it understand how food affects emotions, which is why they continue to make an effort in serving delicious Filipino dishes with interesting twists.

Kare-Kare Crispy Pata

This main course from 1953 Kusina Leticia is special because it is a combination of two of the top favorite dishes of Filipinos — Crispy Pata and Kare-Kare. It served with vegetables and the classic sauteed bagoong. For small families, you can order the small serving for only PHP 295. However, for those in large groups, make sure to get the big serving, which is good for five to six persons and costs only PHP 575. You can never go wrong with the fried pork trotters and the special peanut sauce combo.

Sizzling Bulalo

My preference is always for the traditional way of cooking Bulalo, which is why I don’t usually order for the sizzling versions. Well, things changed when I tasted the 1953 Kusina Leticia’s version of Sizzling Bulalo. It is made up of Beef shanks, brown butter and mushroom gravy. Can you imagine the outcome when all these are combined into one dish? I have to say that it is one of my personal favorites. The beef is cooked with the right amount of tenderness and their is an explosion of flavors in its sauce.

Sisig Nachos

Another interesting item from their menu is the Sisig Nachos. What makes this appetizer stand out from all the other nachos I’ve enjoyed in the past is its salsa with the pork sisig. It was surprising to find out that the pork was crispy and complements well with the cheese sauce and salsa. At the same time, this Filipino appetizer is also served with chimichurri sauce.

Tablea Trufle Cake

Even the desserts at this restaurant will surely wow everyone. During my last visit at the place, I had a chance to try their Tablea Truffle Cake. From its name, it is already apparent that its special ingredient is Tablea or native cacao chocolate. The salted caramel filling, together with vanilla ice cream, is the perfect combination for this cake. I have to say that it is worth all the calories.

1953 Kusina Leticia also serve different varieties of wine, which enables all guests to enjoy their favorite Filipino dishes with their choice of wine. They also cater to big celebrations for families or special meetings for companies and organizations. There are function rooms available in the second floor of the restaurant, which can be rented at the following rates: PHP 8000 Consumable (Good for 25 persons), PHP 5000 (Good for 15 persons), and PHP 4,000 (Good for 10 persons) — all good for four hours.
