Davao Food Crawl Goes To Tsuru Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar

Tsuru Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar is the kind of place that you have to visit if you are looking for satisfying, authentic Japanese cuisine. What makes this place stand out in the Davao food scene is its rich history. In the year 1990, the first branch of Tsuru was opened at J. Camus St. (in front of People’s Park). Since then, it became one of the favorite places of people wanting to have a taste of Japan’s signature dishes.

For the Davao Food Crawl 2019, we had an opportunity to go back to its first branch in the city. Of course, a lot has changed since it first opened its doors to Davaoeños. There have been a lot of improvements in everything that they do, but only one thing is for sure and that is they remained consistent with their promise to make every diner happy with their Japanese food offerings.

Spicy Pork Miso Ramen

This is Tsuru’s spicy miso ramen simmered in pork broth and made up of roasted pork, egg, noodles and a variety of fresh ingredients. Everything about this ramen dish is fulfilling. The soup has the right kick of spiciness making it the ideal order for someone who wants to enjoy a good serving of spicy noodle soup.

Salmon Aburi Maki

If you are looking for a generous serving of salmon and a great mix of satisfying flavors in a maki, then I highly recommend that you order this. To be honest, I’m not a big fan of makis but when I tasted the Salmon Aburu Maki, I promised myself that I will definitely be back at Tsuru and order for more! For me, it’s the perfect comfort food for everyone. Imagine all these in one dish: torched salmon, salmon skin, cream cheese, lettuce, dynamite suace, masago and teriyaki sauce.

Sakana Cheizu Maki

Another surprising dish that I loved at Tsuru was the Sakana Cheizu Maki. There are only two things that you have to remember about it: Breaded Lapu and Cheese. I think what makes this food item special is not only the fact that it is insanely good but it is also served in big slices. Yes, you get the best value for your money if you order this.
